Precision RMS Value of AC Waveform - LTC1968

"RMS to DC conversion is the truest way to measure the energy contained in an AC waveform."

The accurate measurement of AC for a wide variety of waveforms and noise is difficult. When we make solar systems and inverters, the AC outputs are seldom sinusoidal. The easy method is to use a Precision rectifier/filter, get the average voltage and a RMS calibration/scaling is done for sine is by tweaking a trimpot. This will not show the right values for other waveforms. The other way was, analog computing, with many opamps and a matched pair of transistors; like multipliers and log amps, very cumbersome for manufacturing and testing.

Constant Voltage/Current Operation. Overload, short circuit, and arc protection is provided by automatic current regulation and by careful surge limiting design.

Input: 105-125V RMS or 210-250V RMS, 48-420HZ single phase, 0.25 amperes. 3 position terminal block with cover provided.

Output: Continuous, stable adjustment, from 0 to rated voltage or current by panel mounted 10-turn potentiometer with 0.05% resolution, or by external 0 to 10V signals is provided.

Linearity is <1% of rated. Accuracy is 1% of rated + 1% of setting. Repeatability is <0.1% of rated.

Voltage Regulation: Better than 0.005% line and load.

Ripple: < 0.05% RMS of rated voltage at full load. Ripple is proportional to load and decreases linearly to approximately 0.01% at no load.
